Individual Psychotherapy

I provide individual psychotherapy with adults. Typically, I will talk with a potential client over the phone for approximately 20 minutes to see if we might be a good fit. Our first meeting is an Intake Assessment where I will ask you a variety of questions about what brings you to counseling, as well as questions about your background, your history and other areas of your life currently. The Intake will be approximately 75 minutes and ends with a discussion of a plan for going forward. Most clients will then begin meeting with me on a weekly basis for 50 minutes.

Clinical Supervision

I am available to provide weekly clinical supervision to masters and doctoral students in accredited counseling and psychology programs as part of their academic requirements, or to professionals with counseling and psychology degrees who are seeking licensure and need a qualified supervisor. An initial phone consultation is followed by an in-person meeting to discuss the terms of a supervisory relationship, including any obligation of the supervisor to the academic program or the clinical training site. A training agreement and supervisory evaluation schedule are developed prior to beginning supervision.

Young and Emerging Adult Group

I have a significant amount of experience in working with college age and emerging adults. Emerging adulthood is the time period, generally, from a person’s mid-twenties to their mid-thirties where they live independently, but often have the emotional and financial support of parents and family members, and have not yet made solid commitments around life choices involving career, romantic relationships or life purpose/direction. It is a time of exploration and meaning making, but can also be a time of indecision, fear and emotional turmoil. I find it very rewarding helping someone at this stage of development as they navigate their understandings of themselves, their life history and their future opportunities and goals.

The Emerging Adult Group is designed for those who would like to better understand and improve the quality of their relationships with friends, family, and significant others. Participants may explore what they would like to get from their relationships, how early family experiences impact their current relationship patterns, or how they cope with changing levels of intimacy and commitment in their academic/career/social/family life. Members can use the interpersonal interaction of the group to learn about themselves, try new behaviors, and clarify confusing feelings within a supportive, yet challenging and growth-producing atmosphere.

After an initial phone consultation, I meet with potential group members individually for a Group Intake Assessment to determine if they are a good fit for the Emerging Adult Group. If it does seem like they are a good fit, I will give them a timeline for when the group will begin. Participants must make a commitment to attend the group weekly for at least three months in order to participate. This group will be held on Tuesday evenings and will begin when there are enough interested participants.
